one small child's journey to the world's end

We went to the closest end to our known world this weekend with Néli. It took her a while to realize that we had actually flew the ole' coop. 

Néli got a new pack and I am working on being a better pack animal. Course the lil' one drew a few familiar comments and smiles, as babies have a tendency to do,  

"look at that hair!" '

"so cute..."  

but it was on our way back to the car we heard an exciting comment we hadn't heard before, 

"Foolish people, take their child to the beach when its that young."

Not sure what experience this person had with their child at the beach, but Néli had a great time!

Who will help me eat this delicious, ENORMOUS batch of pico de gallo salsa? Yummy!

Mmm!! That eggplant is like butta!

Wow! I sure do wish I had someone to share this yummy food with! Yep that is mom's home-gourmet catsup! Alas, it is a meal for one tonight, I wish I could blog smells and tastes, the eggplant is melting in my mouth, I don't think I've ever had such good flavor. Mom, thanks for sharing, Supadalgas, thanks for being my dinner guest. MMMMMhmmmmm!!!!!

Well, I think I had better make some salsa and roast some veggies today, just LOOK what beauty arrived for me in the mail this morning!! Life doesn't get much better than this!

Weekend at Great Grammys

We just had a wonderful weekend with Grammy and Lucky in North Bend, OR. We went out for a wonderful dinner at the Hilltop and enjoyed a nice breakfast and walk the next day. We always enjoy our time spent with family and this trip was no exception.

the garden is bursting!

I haven't had time to keep up on all of the wildness happening in our garden. This weekend I hope to harvest, weed, plant for fall, as well as can, dry and freeze as much as I can. It is so colorful right now. There are big pumpkins growing that came up on their own.

I used to make tomato ketchup years ago, but I've never had the variety and quantity of tomatoes that we do this season. The garden is lusciously abundant! A little consistency with adding compost and coffee grounds to the earth does wonders!

gnarly / softy

This gnarly carrot from the garden tasted great roasted with potatoes, coated in olive oil, garlic and tamari. Today I will be canning and drying a boatload of tomatoes. Harvest season is well upon us. I am so thankful for this simple life of seasonal pleasures.


















Here is Neli with her girlfriend Bella Bain.
Pops and I loved being with you children and grandbaby soo much! We want to make baby toys and baby clothes and find little things for Neli and Babybug. Grammy found the prettiest dress that Neli wore to the baby shower! She looked like an angel, which I think she is. Can we find some wings for her??

Finally, Pops got to meet his little baby granddarling.
They got along so well, that Nelida thinks she wants to grow up to be just like her Granddaddy! But he is already thinking about plans for her college education. We love her so much!!
