Gary Dalgas in the paper again!
Here's an article that was in the Wenatchee World today. Too bad they didn't get the shot of the guys all hanging on the big structure as it almost tipped over, or a good classic picture of Gary pointing, directing traffic.
WENATCHEE — A 15,000-pound canopy installed Sunday at Wenatchee Valley Medical Center will serve as the entrance to the center's new emergency room addition, still under construction and slated to open in December.
Bates Moving Co. transported the canopy's 52-foot-long steel framework from Farwest Iron Works Inc. shops on South Columbia Street to the medical center early Sunday morning. A huge crane lifted the freestanding structure into place at the entrance of the emergency room Sunday afternoon. Steel rafters will be welded in place and the frame covered with glass in the next couple of weeks.
For an instant, the massive top-heavy structure had teetered precariously on its three legs when the crane dropped it into position a few minutes earlier, causing Peter Scovill, owner and president of Farwest Iron Works, and his crew to smile with relief when the quivering stopped. "We had our moment of truth," said Scovill.
The canopy is just the dressing for the $5 million project, including about $3 million in construction costs. Scovill said the canopy took about 45 days to build and cost about $40,000.
General contractor Aldrich and Associates Inc. is building the emergency room in what used to be the medical center's first-floor parking area in the north wing of the L. Martin Mares Building. The parking lot's concrete floors had to be torn out and replaced with new concrete to allow new interior construction, said Gary Dalgas, project supervisor. The company built the three-story north wing in 1994 and then added another floor in 1996.
The current 19,000-square-foot project includes the 6,000-square-foot emergency room, an equipment sterilization room and other changes to the first floor. Dalgas said some work is also being done on the hospital's second floor as well as the Bistro cafe that links the center's hospital and clinic wings.

The flowers came out just in time for Grammy and Aunt Chris to see them. Great Big Thanks to both of you for making it a great weekend for us to share. We had fun exploring Ohme Gardens, Icicle Canyon, shopping, eating good garden food, and looking at old timey pictures and slides! I even got water from a tree!!

Ruthie and Lando
We had a near lost cat when we visited Ruthie in Ballard the other week. He just wanted to explore his new neighborhood, and escaped out the door somehow. He sure is a beautiful big kitty now. He doesn't let Trixie the dog scare him one little bit. Or the chickens.

Happy 1st Anniversary - Jessi and Nate!!
Congratulations to the 1 year old married couple! They know how to have a good time - swim, fish and relax at the lake, play with the cutest little doggie in town, and plan delicious treats, and explore new lands (you can ask them about Entiaqua) Today we are going to tube down the Wenatchee River on a day that could get as hot as 106! Perfect way to stay cool.

what's my name??

ok, some time ago a kid called me Fester by mistake, but today someone asked me, "is it Lester?" do I look like a Fester or a Lester?? This person also asked me if I was one of those marathoners... I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have cut the sleeves off of my Catch the Reading Bug tshirt and worn it to work...

A Simple Melody
It began as a simple melody;
A string of notes in time.
One led to two in harmony
And I hoped you could someday be mine.
Time went by as friends became more
The world knew it was true
I loved you from my deepest core
And we were baffled by something new.
This day we celebrate our joining
A love forevermore
One more year among the many
A new adventure this year has in store.
The rhythm of life is ever changing;
A string of notes in time.
Listen to the cadence of you and me
On this, our very special Anniversary.
I love you Geoffrey and I am so excited to see what this year, and those to come, hold in store for us. You continue to teach me new things and I am a better woman because of your love. You make me smile every day and for that I thank you.
Happy Anniversary!

Let's go Fly a Kite
Somtimes it's a good thing to just go FLY A KITE! We had fun today in Newport flying our new ladybug kite. Is there really anyone in the world who can fly a kite without smiling? I think not!

more photos from Vaporeux!

The photographer Rosemary Wagner who is co-hosting the Vaporeux Trunk Show posted this and other photos on the Ghost Gallery myspace site.. I will add them one by one to our site. Does this whet your curiosity? And to tempt your appetites, I just went shopping with Papa to the farmer's market and all around town for the most frangrant peaches, rarest morels, most savory cheese and un très chic Madeleine pan for making sweet little tidbits for the event.
